First time I heard the C word was 12/28/2012. Ironically that was the day my father passed away 8 years ago.  Ever since he died, the number 8, 28, always pops up. Right after his death, my mom had huge financial issued that needed to be handled and being that I am the closest child to my mom, I was with her every step of the way. One thing I remember was that her mortgage payment was due on that day and she had completely forgotten about it with all the funeral arrangements and of course, the grief of loosing her husband of 43 years. So, a few days after the funeral as we were in her kitchen drinking coffee, she looked at the stack of bills she had put a side and picked up the mortgage bill and started crying. Without saying a word, she handed it over to me to see. I was puzzled at first, but then after glancing it over, I saw the due date: 12/28/2004.  As if it was a sign, an expiration date. We both started crying.....didn't say a word.
So, hearing this kind of news on such a date did put a bigger damper on my day. My appointment was made immediately after I got the call from my doctor. I had been told my pap smear came back abnormal and Dr. Ryan wanted to see me right away. I excused myself from work and drove to the doctor's office immediately which was only 4 minutes away. My heart was racing and  didn't know what to expect. I kept telling myself everything was okay.......
When the doctor met me in his office, I felt as if I was in trouble. In the principles office. But after he explained to me the results of my abnormal pap smear. I felt a numb sensation as if he was talking about politics... felt nothing. He was trying to explain to me that I might possible have abnormal cancerous cells in my cervic  and he was not sure and he wanted to rule it all out so he was planning to do a procedure called L.E.E.P. He explained it to me and I was okay with it. Didnt' sound scarey. All I would have to do is wait for my next menstral cycle to beginning and call him to set up the procedure. . .  that was 84 days ago. I still haven't had a period.
I called Dr.Ryan and told him what was NOT happening and he joked about me not wanting to have a period anymore and I just laughed and told him I was actually looking forward to it to get this procedure done and over with. He told me he would prescribe a pill to take for 12 days so that I can have my period again and as soon as I did...well, I knew what to do.
I started taking the pill last night.  (Day 1).
